Poem: THROUGH THE EYES OF A RAVEN (II)

As-Salâmu ‘Alaykum wa Raĥmatullâhi wa Barakâtuh

This is the extended version of Through the Eyes of a Raven, which probably wouldn’t have seen the light of day or made its way on to this website without my late dad’s رحمه الله encouragement, constructive critique and valuable input – an Arab poet himself (amongst other skilful talents). Sadly, he was no longer around to read the outcome.

My late father Maher Abdullah رحمه الله was amongst those who encouraged me to make writing poetry a serious endeavour rather than a pastime, confining them away into solitude and darkness.

  1. The poem seems to relay a message and it indeed comes from the deep experience of the writer itself. A good poem, and how you put your feelings into words is something very awesome.

    Thank you for sharing.

  2. This is so beautiful sis, though a little bit sad in the last portion, but still beautiful. I read the story about writing this poem. I did not know that you started to write poetry long time before (^_^).

  3. Your voice shines brightly as do the words that your heart and spirit allow you to share, surely God has blessed you with a great talent dear sister! Your poems refresh my spirit with the touch of your words. God bless!
