My late father Maher Abdullah رحمه الله was amongst those who encouraged me to consider writing poetry seriously instead of merely secreting them away in the cosy confines of laptop folders.
Through the Eyes of a Raven was the first poem my Dad رحمه الله constructively criticised, – he was an Arab poet (amongst other talents) – which I wrote in April 2003. Sadly, he wasn’t able to read the outcome, which never would’ve been possible without his constructive critique and valuable input.
To keep my story short, I’ve written two versions of Through the Eyes of a Raven and although the themes are similar, the endings differ.
I hope you find the time to read them both and enjoy inshâ’Allâh.
