Ten years ago today was the fall of Saddam Hussein’s statue in Baghdad’s Fardous Square, where the late Maher Abdullah رحمه الله commentated, with his eloquent and articulate tongue, continuously for four hours and millions of Arab-speakers came to rely on his reporting.

‘Through the Eyes of a Raven’ was the first poem my Dad رحمه الله constructively criticised, – he was an Arab poet (amongst other talents) – which I wrote in April 2003. Sadly, he wasn’t able to read the outcome, which never would’ve been possible without his constructive critique and valuable input.
