Poem: ARAKEN

THESE ARE My WORDS FOR YOU

As-Salâmu ‘Alaykum wa Raĥmatullâhi wa Barakâtuh

Thanks to a sweet someone who suggested I write a poem about the Arakanese Rohingya Muslims Genocide, subsequently embedding the idea in my mind Al-Ĥamdu-Lilâh.

And so, after some restless days and agonising nights, on Monday, 13th August 2012, after Fajr Prayer, the following verses are what flowed.

Jazâki Allâhu Khaira (you know who you are).

  1. Assalamualiekum Sr. Rabab,

Again, I’m amazed by your thoughtful and heart touching words (^_^).

I have something to say about the matter of giving shelter. I’ll Insha’Allah send you a message.

    Take care

  2. Only dua, adhkaar and contemplation will not liberate us; it’s time for strategic planning and sincere action. As the second caliph ‘Umar ibn Al-Khattāb said, ‘knowledge is superficial that is more on the tongue’. Well I did protest in India against Aung San Suu Kyi, the Burmese prime minister.

May Almighty God give us courage and strength that we can speak out and stand against these atrocities whether it’s in Chechnya, Iraq, Afghanistan, India, Burma, Palestine or Pakistan… Think about and raise your voice to break the ice.
